Want to assign a Pal to a specific task at your base - like mining, tree cutting, and more?
There are a few steps needed to assign Pals to tasks in Palworld. You'll first need a Palbox to assign Pals to your base - then, the Pals will choose a task randomly in your base to complete that matches with their abilities. You can also pick Pals up and throw them at the tasks you want them to complete.
But it's a bit more complex than that. Let's dive into each step further.
Step One: Craft a Palbox
A Palbox in Palworld is both a marker for your base as well as a panel you can use to assign Pals to your base to complete tasks, defend, etc.
To start, open the Build menu by pressing "B" and craft the Palbox:
You'll need Paldium Fragments, Wood, and Stone. See our guide to gathering Paldium Fragments here.
Step Two: Assign Pals to Base
Once you've built the Palbox, open the management panel by pressing "F" when near the Palbox.
To assign Pals to your base, simply drag their icons from the middle to the slots available at the bottom of the Palbox interface labeled "Pals at the base."
Note: you can unlock more slots for Pals by leveling your base through the Palbox.
Automatic Pal Tasks
Once Pals have been assigned to the base, they'll begin to complete tasks around the base - like mining, gathering, and more - on their own.
The tasks that your Pals complete automatically will correspond to their specific skills. For instance, a Pal that doesn't have a Logging capability won't be able to harvest trees. You can view a Pal's specific abilities from the Pal log.
Step Three: Manually Assign by Picking Up & Throwing Pals
Sometimes your Pals don't do the tasks you need them to do. In this case, you can manually assign Pals to tasks by picking them up and throwing them at the task.
Start by going near the Pal until you see a prompt to "Lift" the Pal up by pressing "F":
Then, walk to the task you want the Pal to complete and throw them at the task by pressing "F" again:
You can see that, in the image above, the task assignment failed. This is because the Pal I threw does not have the "Planting" ability required to complete tasks at this specific farming location.
A Gumoss, however, does have the "Planting" skill and begins to plant when thrown:
Pal Skill Assignments
The specific Pal skills required for a task should appear directly above and to the left of the interface that appears when you're near a task. It will appear as text that says, "Required: (skill)."
If your current Pals aren't able to complete the task, you'll either have to do it yourself, or find a Pal that has the skills needed.
The Monitoring Stand
The Monitoring Stand is an unlockable upgrade that allows you to increase the rate at which your Pals work at the cost of depleting their SAN and Hunger. If you need something done quickly, however, the Monitoring Stand can be used for brief periods to allow you to work faster.
...
And that's it!
